Carne Asada Fries with Avocado Sauce

Carne Asada Fries with Avocado Sauce

Carne asada fries drizzled with a homemade creamy avocado salsa. Need I say more? But seriously, who doesn’t love loaded fries? These carne aside fries are perfect for when you’re craving an indulgent meal, but don’t feel like slaving in the kitchen.

Loaded fries have become such a trendy and popular street food, and for a good reason! Fried food = amazing, but fried food + customizable toppings= so much more amazing. And although many of you may disagree, I think having street food at home is even better! There is nothing like pigging out with some tasty food in the comfort of your own kitchen/couch/bed, whatever. 🙂 AND you get to pick all the ingredients that go in it!

ingredients for the salsa: avocado, cilantro, lime, garlic and jalapeño. And a side of carne asada
When I cook, it is usually for me and my boyfriend who btw is a very picky eater. So if you have a picky eater at home, I am happy to let you know, this recipe is picky-eater-approved (salsa and all). Which also means this recipe is great for big crowds 😉

The avocado salsa that goes on this dish is so good. And let me just tell you, I love salsas and most of the salsas I make, I call “lazy salsas”. Why? Because they are so convenient. They take little to no effort to make and they’re also pretty delicious. This salsa is a little more savory than spicy, however. I know in the picture I put a jalapeño, but I actually ended up using a dash of cayenne pepper. I was making this for my boyfriend, who is a picky eater and doesn’t eat any spice (surprise! lol) so I didn’t want it to be spicy. If I was making this for myself, it would have been a completely different story! JK I probably would have only added about 1/4 of that jalapeño :p

Instructions
  1. Cook the french fries according to the packaging. I like mine a little crispier, so I usually bake mine for 1-2 minutes longer than suggested.
  2. While the fries are baking, prepare your salsa. In a blender throw all the ingredients for the salsa. If the sauce is too thick, add about 1tbsp of water at a time to get it to the consistency you like.

  3. Take the fries out of the oven and place them in a deep bowl that is oven safe. Scatter the 1 cup of shredded cheese onto the fries then the carne asada. Bake at 400 for about 4 minutes.
  4. Take the fries out of the oven, and drizzle creamy avocado salsa over fries or serve on the side as a dipping sauce!

Recipe Notes

I get my carne asada from a local carniceria "meat market" where its seasoned for me, but when I don't have the luxury of buying my carne asada meat prepared, I use Weber Carne Asada Seasoning, which I definitely recommend.
