Olive Garden Breadsticks Copycat Recipe

Olive Garden Breadsticks Copycat Recipe

For my first ever blog post, I thought I should make something both easy and delicious! Breadsticks are the perfect side for any dinner feast, but they are even better when they taste just like Olive Garden’s breadsticks.

You’ll only need a couple ingredients to make these babies!

This recipe will make 16 6″ breadsticks, but you will see in my pictures that I halved the recipe and only made 8 breadsticks.

Instructions
  1. Combine the first five ingredients into a bowl or stand mixer bowl if using one. Let sit for about 3 minutes
    yeast and warm water
  2. If you have a stand mixer, using the hook attachment, turn on the mixer on low and add 1 cup of flour at a time. Turn up the speed to 6-8 or medium high and let the mixer knead the dough for about 3 minutes until the dough starts to pull away from the bowl. If you don’t have a mixer, thats ok! It will just take a little more elbow grease and you’ll have to knead the dough by hand.

  3. In an oiled bowl, let the dough rest and rise for about 45 minutes. Cover with either plastic wrap or a towel.

  4. Once the dough has rested, place it on a floured surface. Then begin to divide the dough in half until you have 16 pieces. (I halved the recipe so you will only see 8 portions/breadsticks in my pictures). Roll out each ball into about a 6 inch long log.
  5. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. *tip* be sure to place the logs of dough in the position you will be baking them in (with room to rise, about 1 1/2 inch apart). Because we are going to let them rise a second time, moving them after their second rise will deflate them. Once on the baking sheet, cover with a towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes
  6. Preheat the oven to 400F and bake for 11-12 minutes. You are going for a very pale golden color on the breadsticks. Keep in mind that the bottom of the breadsticks are cooking a lot faster that the tops, so just make sure you don’t overcook them and burn the base of the breadstick.
  7. While the breadsticks bake, combine all the ingredients for the topping.
  8. Brush the breadsticks immediately with the topping and voila! Delicious, soft, warm breadsticks, so good you might not even need an entrée 🙂
